Therapeutic Word of the Day: Patience

“Patience: If Rome was not built in a day, why should your life? Give yourself time to learn and grow.”

In truth, I hate patience. Why? Because I have a difficult time accepting it. I often find myself becoming annoyed things in my life are not happening quickly enough. In some ways, my entire life has been a vast waiting game. Nine years in school to become a therapist was an extreme length of time, and I managed it. You would think I am a master at it by now. Nope, like you, I find patience difficult.

If you, like me, find patience difficult remember, things in your life will happen at the speed they were meant to. This does not mean you can sit and do nothing in life. Quite the opposite, you need to be the agent of change in your life. However, give yourself some time to breathe and focus on what you need to learn. Maybe you are not ready right now for the next great challenge in your life and need to learn the lessons at the level you are at.
