“We all need some. Are you providing enough for yourself and others?”
As I treat Autism, I often see clients who have a very specific need for space. Many need a place where they can go and be safe, to recharge and refocus. However, everyone needs the space to recharge and focus on what is important. If you find yourself overwhelmed, you most likely need some space in your life, so you can recharge. Make sure to give others space as well, from you. Smothering someone will not help them, but over time will damage them and your relationship with them. Even in relationships, couples need space from each other, to focus on their own interests. Space is a healthy requirement.
