“Life is offensive at times, get used to it. To shelter yourself from it will destroy your life.”
Guess what? Life is offensive. At times, you will be offended, disgusted and altogether tired of life. This is normal. As we are all different people, with different DNA and different experiences, our definitions of offensive will be different. Something I do may offend you. If we start censoring people for saying something that offends us, soon all speech will be censored.
Do you really want a governmental body telling you what you can or cannot say? Read 1984 by George Orwell to see the results of this. If we start censoring speech, our freedom dies. Yet, people are calling for the repeal of the 1st Amendment. Being offended is a normal part of life. By focusing on being offended, you give power to those who offend you. Focus on your future and your goals, and ignore what other’s say.
